Filter Flask

Filter flasks—also known as a Büchner flask—are essential laboratory glassware specifically designed for vacuum filtration applications. Made from high-strength borosilicate glass. It is built to withstand high temperatures and resist chemical corrosion, making it ideal for rigorous lab environments.

Commonly used to separate solids from liquids, filter flasks are equipped with thick walls to handle the reduced pressure applied during filtration. It features a sidearm for easy vacuum attachment and a flat, stable base for secure use on lab benches. During filtration, a funnel containing filter paper or a membrane is placed on top of the filter flask. Suction draws the liquid through, leaving solid residues behind. Widely used in chemical, biological, and environmental laboratories, this is a critical tool for achieving precise, efficient separation and ensuring sample purity.
