Cover Glass for Microscopy – D 263® M
D 263® M is a transparent borosilicate glass manufactured through a draw-down method, allowing the production of extremely thin glass thicknesses ranging from 0.10 to 0.21 mm.
Primarily employed as a cover glass for microscopic analyses, D 263® M adheres to the specifications outlined in ISO 8255-1 (International Organization for Standardization). Its low autofluorescence and impressive chemical resistance make it a preferred choice for ensuring reliable research outcomes. The protective coating and high-quality material allow for easy separation, making it suitable for use with automated cover slipping equipment.

Cover Glasses Square and Rectangular
Marienfeld Superior cover glasses are characterized by their exceptional flatness and smooth surfaces, achieved through the use of high-quality borosilicate glass. Outperforming soda lime glass cover glasses, Marienfeld Superior cover glasses ensure superior optical quality for prepared slides even after years of archiving, thanks to the non-corroding nature of the glass and the minimal tolerance in material thickness.
These coverslips undergo precise machining processes, ensuring accurate sizing and precise edges. Their efficient manufacturing processes are accompanied by a rigorous integrated quality control system, guaranteeing high-quality coverslips that do not stick together.
Ready for immediate use, Marienfeld Superior coverslips are well-suited for applications in automated coverslippers, offering significant advantages to users.

Precision cover glasses thickness No. 1.5H (tol. ± 5 μm) For High Performance Microscopes
Modern high-performance microscope objectives are designed to be used with cover glasses of a thickness of 170 μm. The quality of the cover glass, in particular the compliance with the nominal thickness, has thereby a crucial impact on the imaging quality. Variations of thickness reduce the image contrast and result in image defects, most notably in spherical aberration.
Marienfeld Superior produce high-precision cover glasses with thickness No. 1.5H featuring an exceptionally accurate thickness of 170 μm ± 5 μm. Futhermore, this new generation of cover glasses are highly recommended for objectives with high numerical aperture and high resolution, for example:
- dry objectives: N.A. > 0.7
- objectives for water immersion: N.A. > 1.0
- objectives for glycerol immersion: N.A. > 1.2
- objectives for oil immersion: N.A. > 1.3
