Laboratory Glassware

Glassware Group of laboratory flasks with a clear liquid, isolated

Here at Australian Scientific, we stock a wide range of  laboratory glassware for all applications. Below is a list of products we have readily available and their common uses.

Utilizing laboratory glassware is essential for achieving high-precision volumetric measurements, particularly in testing laboratories where accuracy is paramount. The metrological grade of the glassware plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and precision of the measurements.

We also have a wide range of interchangeable glassware and custom made glassware available on request.

Borosilicate Glass 3.3 – This glass is perfectly suitable for high quality measuring instruments as it is highly resistant against acids and alkali. Due to its small linear coefficient of expansion, it withstands thermal shocks very well.

Products:

glass vessel or container for holding liquidBeakers

These are the most universal product and are used for various purposes. It is a glass container with a flat bottom and a small spout for pouring. It is used in the chemistry labs for mixing, heating, and stirring liquids.

a burette for measuring out small amounts of liquidBurettes

A burette consists of a long, graduated tube, that is marked with volume measurements. At the bottom of the tube is a stopcock, or valve, used to stop and start the flow of liquid from the burette. The small, tapered end of the burette is the capillary tube. Burettes are often clamped to a stand to hold them steady while in use.

empty glass desiccatorDesiccators

A desiccator is an air-tight enclosure that can be used in two methods. The first method is to remove moisture inside the desiccator to prevent moisture from damaging moisture sensitive samples such as electronics and chemical samples that may react to moisture. The second method is to preserve the moisture level inside the chamber and protecting a biological and carbon dating sample. Made of borosilicate glass

Flask (Erlenmeyer or Conical)

Is the most commonly used laboratory glassware in scientific research. It is used to hold and measure chemical liquid samples. Furthermore, these chemicals can be heated, mixed, and boiled in a conical flask depending on the research.

volumetric flask for measuringFlask (Volumetric)

Is a type of laboratory glassware used to prepare solutions. A volumetric flask has a flat bottomed bulb with an elongated neck calibrated to hold a set volume at a mark on the neck. The flask may also be called a graduated flask or measuring flask because its mark specifies a precise volume measurement. The mark on the flask neck indicates the volume contained.

tall narrow glass cylidnerMeasuring Cylinders

A Measuring Cylinders is a piece of laboratory apparatus used to measure the volume of a liquids, chemicals or solutions during the lab daily work. Graduated cylinders are more precise and accurate than the common laboratory flasks and beakers.

graduated glass pipette for dispensing small amounts of liquidPipettes Graduated

Graduated glass pipettes can be used as an easy and cost-effective way of transferring small volumes of liquid. When used together with a pipette bulb or pipette pump, users can draw up liquid into the pipette, and then when required, accurately dose the liquid out by releasing the bulb or pump. The amount of liquid inside the pipette can be seen via the graduated markings on the side of the pipette.

volumetric pipette for lab applicationsPipettes Volumetric

Volumetric pipettes, also known as bulb pipettes, are manual liquid handling devices used in many laboratories for the transfer and dispense of a single, specific quantity of liquid to a very high degree of accuracy. They are normally used in conjunction with a suitable pipette filler for user safety, and to minimise potential contamination.

glass bottle to store chemicalsReagent Bottles

Are containers made of glass and topped by special caps . They are intended to contain chemicals in liquid or powder form for laboratories and stored in cabinets or on shelves.
